Cambridge University Press - events celebrate 425 years...
A Midsummer Night's Dream for charity
Staff at Cambridge University and Cambridge University Press revealed hidden talents as part of the cast and
crew of a unique Shakespeare production staged in the Shaftesbury Road grounds.
Staff from both the Press and the University acted in and helped to stage four special productions
of A Midsummer Night's Dream as part of the Press's 425th anniversary celebrations.
Ticket sales to the 1,200 strong audience over all four performances raised a superb £12,000 for three charities
- the Cambridge Cancer Help-Centre, Addenbrookes (Hospital) Charitable Trust: Special Care Baby Unit and the Cystic
Fibrosis Trust. Each charity received £4,000.
Audiences picnicked in the Press grounds before enjoying a performance billed as "an excitingly dark,
refreshing and modern interpretation of this much-loved tale of magic, mystery and mix-ups".
WvN Marketing managed the event from start to finish, including:
- Logistics for running the outdoor event
- Budget management
- Sourcing and managing event staff, as well as ensuring they were fully briefed
- Working with theatre staff to ensure housekeeping and production were fully integrated
- Helping to manage ticket sales and helping with the promotion for the event
- Working with Health and safety staff to ensure all legal obligations for running an outdoor event were met
